Tech Tip of the Day

If you are using Microsoft Office 2007 (a very wonderful upgrade!), here’s a tip to make it easier for others to read your files. This week, I helped somebody who uses Word 2007 and saved the document as a .doc. However, because he did not save it as a Word 97-2003 document, others with Word 2003 could not read it…even though they had installed the MS Office 2007 compatibilty pack. Ironically, users of MS Office 2003 could view documents with the .docx extension (the new extension introduced in the new version of Office).

Here’s how to do this:

  1. Click on the Office button.
  2. Choose “Save As”
  3. Choose “Word 97-2003 Document”
